Lake Tahoe offers the best Kokanee and Lake Trout (Mackinaw) fishing in
California and Nevada. And the best part is that Captain Don Sheetz, knows
where to catch them!! He should, he's been a Lake Tahoe guide
for 27 years!
The state record Kokanee and Lake Trout came from
Tahoe. The Kokanee record is 4 lbs. 15 oz. and the Mackinaw record is 37
lbs. 8 oz. The bite for Mackinaw is excellent in the spring and early
summer as the fish are hungry after winter and Mackinaw move into
shallower water. Mackinaw average 3 to 5 lbs. and fish from 5 to 10 lbs.
are quite common. Mid summer is when the Kokanee really start biting at
south shore. These fish are smaller than Mackinaw, but are good fighters
and provide fast and furious action.

Family owned and operated Captain Don Sheetz is a professional guide who
has lived and fished Lake Tahoe for 34 years. He is fully insured and
licensed by the California Department of Fish and Game and is a U. S.
Coast Guard licensed captain.
Our other professional guide, Joel Dameral,
was born and raised in South Tahoe and
has fished the streams and lakes in the area
since he was a youngster.
Your fishing charter can be either open or
private (1 to 6 people, ask about private rates). We usually operate from
April into October, weather permitting. The boat is a 22 foot Starcraft
cuddy cabin. It is equipped with a canopy and a full cabin to protect you
during the cold mornings and a sometimes much needed porta potty.
Licenses
are available on board for your added convenience. Bait, tackle, beverages
and breakfast rolls are provided, and of course your catch will be cleaned
at no extra charge.

ft. Starcraft Islander, fully equipped with
a cuddy cabin, porta potty, radio, all the latest fishing
gear, using only light
tackle, vertical jigging or Electric
Downriggers.

Everything provided except a
fishing license. All bait, tackle, drinks, snacks,
and fish cleaned and
sacked.
Prices Range from $95 for
children to $105 for adults per person.
A one day Ca. license is available
for $12.60.

Mackinaw record is 37
lbs. Mackinaw average 3-5 lbs and fish from 6 to 10
lbs. are common. Kokanee Salmon are smaller than mackinaw, but are very
numerous and catches of 20 to 30 fish on light tackle are normal from mid-
July through August.
