Lake Tahoe is famous for being the largest alpine lake in North America, which of course attracts special attention especially in the summer time. Solstice Festival

There’s no better way to celebrate the summer solstice than with a three-day festival to ring in the summer months. The festival starts on June 20, with the free Solstice Stroll Classic Car Show where automobile fanatics can peruse Lake Tahoe Boulevard and marvel at the classics from the Rolls Royces to the Alfa Romeos.

The following day, on June 21, the Bridgetender Fireworks Fundraiser Street Dance frolics through the street party down to the Fanny Bridge. The Bridgetender Restaurant hosts the event, where attendees can oblige in specially priced dinner and drinks. And the best part about the event? A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Tahoe City Independence Day fireworks fund.

On June 22 from noon to 4pm, mosey down to North Lake Tahoe Boulevard for fine wine and gourmet food tastings from some of the best Tahoe restaurants and caterers at the Tahoe City Wine Walk. Indulge in the tasty treats while shopping along the strip and taking in the scenic views of the lake. Adult tickets cost $35 before the event and $45 at the event. Children under seven years old can attend for free, while tickets for children over seven years old cost just $12.

To top off the festival, June 23 marks the first night of the summer concert series that run through the end of August. Check out the local vendors, unwind in the beer garden, and listen to the free concerts on the lake shore at Commons Beach. The Trey Stone Band will be the first to take the stage this summer with its funk-inspired hits, while music lovers can expect an eclectic variety of musicians each week featuring bluegrass, reggae, jazz, and more.

Valhalla Renaissance Faire

Travel back in time and attend the Valhalla Renaissance Faire at Camp Richardson Resort on June 1,2,6,7,8, and 9. Root on the jousters and get a kick out of the jesters at this historic themed event in Tahoe. The whole family will enjoy the Shakespearean plays, battle reenactments, archery tournaments, artisan vendors, and more. The faire also provides educational performances and presentations to help the kids better understand the importance of this significant period in history.

And for those looking to really join in all the fun, dress up in a Renaissance inspired outfit and join in on the costume contests! All knights, princesses, pirates, and barbarians are welcome.
