Lake Tahoe, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2012
TahoesBest.com is reporting on the snowfall to come this weekend and the best ski resorts in the area to go to enjoy it right now!

Calling All Skiers! The weather experts are forecasting up to 7 feet of new snow in and around the Lake Tahoe basin through this coming Sunday! It's time to start planning a winter vacation, so dig out your snow gear, book your weekend getaway before all the rooms fill up and head to Lake Tahoe! The snow started to fall on Wednesday and up to 8" have already accumulated in some areas. This is good news for the ski resorts already open for the season, and will hopefully be encouraging to the ones with future opening dates. Snow is expected through Sunday, and the temperatures in Lake Tahoe will still be in the high 40s by day.

Here are the TahoesBest.com 2012/2013 Early Season Ski Resort Picks:

  • Resort With Most Early Snow: Kirkwood Ski Resort has reported the most snow so far this season at 8”. Kirkwood (now owned by Vail Resorts along with Heavenly and Northstar) currently has five lifts operating offering over 1,000 acres of terrain to get wild! According to the Kirkwood Mountain’s Facebook page, Kirkwood is expecting about another 4’-6’ above 8000ft. and approximately 2’-3’ at 7000ft. by Sunday evening.
  • Best Value Ski Resort: Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. Why two? Because they’re actually one… meaning one ticket gets you two of Tahoe’s most incredible ski resorts. If that’s not rad we don’t know what is! Best yet they are next to each other so you can ski one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. And at the end of the day both have great bars to hang and talk about a day on the slopes.
  • Tahoe’s Best Kept Secret Ski Resort: This has to go to Homewood Mountain Ski Resort on Tahoe’s West Shore. The West Shore is a great secret and Homewood is a perfect example. It offers great lift rates, 1,260 acres of groomers to powder stashes and killer Lake Views from all 64 runs! Homewood will be opening on December 14, 2012.
  • Coolest Celebrity Appearance at a Resort: Northstar California Resort Shaun White will be in town on December 22 to host their birthday bash! Happy 40th Anniversary to Northstar! Northstar has gotten 7” of snow since Wednesday, and they've also recently opened up several trails, bringing, amounting to a grand total of 24 open trails at Northstar, perfect for a bit of variety and almost every level of expertise!
  • Awesome and Friendly Ski Resort Employees: This one goes to Sugar Bowl Ski Resort. Sugar Bowl does it right from top to bottom with its employees and its incredible terrain. Easy access of Highway 80 and great prices.

Lake Tahoe has more snow to come this weekend and is looking for even more throughout the season. Skiers and snowboarders are already out on the slopes on a semi-regular basis and ski reports are keeping the area optimistic about the season ahead!
