What is There to Do for Memorial Day in Lake Tahoe?

Submitted on 5/9/15 | by Lindsey Carlson

May is here, which means the warmer weather is here and now it’s time to start enjoying the coming summer sun. What better time to enjoy the great outdoors than Memorial Day weekend in Lake Tahoe? If you don’t have the day off work this Memorial Day call in a sick day and come visit beautiful Lake Tahoe this year. Wondering what to do in Lake Tahoe for Memorial Day weekend? Look no further, we’ve come up with some of the best things to do this year while on vacation in Lake Tahoe over Memorial Day weekend.

1.) Take a bike ride!

Memorial Day marks the beginning of nice weather, which means bike shops are starting to stretch their arms after a long winter hibernation. We absolutely love Anderson’s Bike Shop in South Lake Tahoe, and Factory Bike in Squaw Valley. Enjoy the incredible location of Anderson’s Bicycle Rental and simply ride into the woods!

2.) BBQ at the beach!

Pack in the family and head down to one of the many amazing beaches in Lake Tahoe. Either pack a picnic and head to the shore, or enjoy one of the beaches with BBQs this Memorial Day. Beaches with BBQ grills include Commons Beach, Kings Beach State Recreation Area, Sand Harbor, Camp Richardson Beach, and El Dorado Beach. 3.) Tee time with the boys!

Golfing is big in Lake Tahoe, and no wonder - the beautiful weather, amazing scenery and incredible selection of golf courses. Let the ladies enjoy the day doing whatever they do (us girls need our pampering day anyway), and book a game of golf with the boys. There are many golf courses in Lake Tahoe to choose from, and nearly all of them are open and ready for your hole in one!

4.) Spa time with the girls!

While the men are busy trying to get a birdie, why not book a day for the ladies to enjoy relaxing and pampering. Lake Tahoe is known as a mecca of relaxation, so there is no better place to enjoy a day at the spa. Massages, facials, and manicures - or perhaps even a pamper party for all the girls. 5.) Head out on a hike!

An activity for everyone, hiking in Lake Tahoe is one of the best things to do with the whole family. Not only does Lake Tahoe boast a long list of incredible trails, it’s one of those places you can find a secret trail and not see a soul all day long. Enjoy the great outdoors with the family. We recommend exploring Desolation Wilderness, or perhaps taking it easy with a stroll in Sugar Pine State Park.
