All hands on deck! This year’s South Lake Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic is taking place this weekend, July 26-27, so put on those boat shoes and hop on board! The weekend is sure to amaze, with the Thundering 30s theme being the biggest classic boat showcase the event has ever seen before.

This year’s theme, the Thundering 30s, will have boat enthusiasts mesmerized by the wide selection of classic boats, antiques ranging from the early 1900s to the 1970s. The boats are all historically relevant, from celebrity owned to industry innovators, and this year’s event even includes Joe Dimaggio’s famous vessel named Joltin Joe.

From die-hard boat enthusiasts to families looking to enjoy a weekend by the lake, the South Lake Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic has something for everyone. This Lake Tahoe event is taking place at the Tahoe Keys Marina and Yacht Club, so be sure to pack the whole family in the car and we’ll see you there!

Boats for Benefit

Tickets for the South Lake Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic are on sale now, and can be purchased through tahoewoodenboats.com, or at participating Raley’s locations. If you hurry, you can take advantage of the early bird tickets for $15. Normal tickets can be purchased at the event for $20, and children under 12 can attend for free!

This event is not only a chance to view beautiful classic boats with a pristine Lake Tahoe backdrop, but is also put together to raise money for local charities. Last year’s event provided five Lake Tahoe charities with $2,500 each. What a way to give back to the community while enjoying a day in the sun.

Unique Awards

Not only are the classic boats displayed for the public to enjoy, they are also judged in different categories! Awards range from Best Race Boat to our personal favorite, the Having Too Much Fun Award. Bring the little Skippers and let them vote on their favorite classic for the Kid’s Choice Award.

Other awards include (but are not limited to) Best of Show Restored, Ladies Choice, Most Unique and Furthest Traveled. Come check out the classic boats and let the kids vote for their favorites!

Even if you wouldn’t call yourself a classic boat fanatic this event will be one you won’t want to miss. The event boasts live music, vendors for food and shopping, and even a wine tasting village (tickets for wine village sold separately).
