Submitted on | by Lizz Riggs

Winter is in full effect this February, and all of the ski resorts in Lake Tahoe are keeping people coming back from more every weekend. But people aren't just coming back for the snowy slopes right now, there are tons of things to do in Lake Tahoe other than skiing.

Concerts and events are attracting people every weekend, and this weekend is no different! Have a pre-Valentine's day vacation and check out something of the events going on this week in Tahoe!

Don't worry that it's last minute, there are tons of hotel deals in Tahoe that can help make this spur of the moment decision to come out a little easier to make.

Starting this Friday, Northstar California Resort is hosting an international snow sculpture competition! From Febraury 8 - 12, 2013, eight teams are going to be competing to transform 20-ton blocks of snow into a pure work of art. Teams will be competing from Canada, Finland, Germany, Japan and areas throughout the United States. Fans are invited to vote for their favorite carvings, and the winners will receive the Avalanche Award and Snowflake Award, but there is also a panel of judges that will be voting to determine the real winners. One of the most famous judges will be Lawrence Noble, award-winning sculptor and illustrator and Chairmen of the Sculpture department at the Academny of Art University.
