When you're at the "Best Lake in America," there are a few things you're going to want to do. You want to pack in tons of water sports and scenic hiking or mountain biking in the summer. You want to ski all winter. You want to catch a beautiful sunset any time of the year.

Lake Tahoe is home to some of the most beautiful sunsets in the country, whether you're right on the water, looking over the mountains or cuddled up cozy in your vacation rental, so be sure to catch at least one while you're here! Here are our favorite places to catch a sunset in Lake Tahoe, for the outdoorsy adventurers and the helpless romantics, or hungry hippos! There's a place and something to do during every sunset in Lake Tahoe, so try one or try them all. You won't be disappointed!

Restaurants with Sunset Views

Riva Grill: With a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe, Riva Grill offers a great menu, delicious cocktails and a happy hour to start your evening off right! Their Wet Woody is the cocktail that made them famous, and it definitely is worth a try, but don't have too many and miss the sunset you came to see!

Edgewood Restaurant: Another restaurant right on the waters of Lake Tahoe, Edgewood is charming and elegant. While the restaurant offers fine dining, it's a place where you can feel comfortable while you sip your wine and drink in the views at the same time. It doesn't come out of this lake, but definitely give their seafood fare a fair chance to impress! It never fails.

Blue Water Bistro: If you enjoy your sunset with a few cocktails at happy hour on the patio, you won't find a better place in Lake Tahoe than this one! You can even bring your pooch to enjoy the views from the porch with you every evening. The venue is kind of small, so get there early for a good seat.

Outdoor Spots in Tahoe for a Sunset

Zephyr Cove: A west facing beach in South Lake Tahoe with some of the best sunset views you'll ever feast your eyes on! The large rocks on this beach make the perfect seats to enjoy the evening's sky from in the summer or winter. Grab a blanket and a sunset partner and look west, that's Rubicon Peak, to see some of the best views in Tahoe!

Sand Harbor: This beach on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe, just outside of Incline City, offers beautiful sunsets throughout the year, but is especially nice in the warmer months. During the summer, there are often plays and concerts going on at this beach.

Sunset Tours

M.S. Dixie II Lake Tahoe Sunset Dinner Cruise: A romantic four course meal is only made better when eaten on a beautiful dinner cruise with the Lake Tahoe sunset in the backdrop. Dinner and dancing on this cruise make this meal amazing, but the evening sky makes it unforgettable.

Sierra Air Helicopter Tours: With several tours for varying times, you can enjoy the sunset from the sky for an altogether new and exciting experience! If you have something different in mind for seeing the sunset this evening, customize your own private helicopter tour to get just what you want! Be sure to book in advance. You know you're not the only one who wants to see a Lake Tahoe sunset from the sky!

Sunset Sleigh Ride and Dinner Tour: Reserved for the snowy months that you might not want to be sitting out on a beach freezing your socks off! Turn your night into one of those beautiful Christmas card scenes, as two beautiful horses pull you through Lake Tahoe's snowy terrain.
