Seven Reasons to Visit Tahoe This Spring

It may be hard to believe, but Spring is rapidly approaching, and the setting of Tahoe is an excellent destination to observe all of the beautiful seasonal transformations. From extreme outdoor activities to more relaxed options, there are plenty of things to do in Lake Tahoe to help rid you of any lingering winter blues.

1. Wedding Season Has Arrived!
All of the weddings in Lake Tahoe are moving outside to great the warm air, blooming flowers and beautiful beaches that have been waiting under that layer of snow all winter long. This is the perfect time to head to Tahoe if you're picking out a venue for a wedding later this year, as the winter crowds are gone and you'll beat the summer crowds by a few weeks!

2. Heavenly Spring Loaded
Heavenly Spring Loaded is a great way to kickstart the Tahoe Spring season. Getting underway March 29 and not wrapping up until April 14, this festival incorporates many quintessential Tahoe activities like pond-skimming, skiing competitions, concerts and fun parties - all sure to make for a memorable Tahoe vacation.

3. Reno Jazz Festival
If you’re looking to get in touch with your musical side on your trip to Tahoe, plan on checking out the Reno Jazz Festival which will take place April 25th-27th at the University of Nevada-Reno. This renowned festival has been occurring for over 50 years, and has become one of the largest in terms of scope and popularity in the world. It features three days of concerts, clinics and competitions.

4. US Freestyle Championships at Heavenly Mountain Resort
Heavenly Mountain Resort is home to the 2013 US Freestyle Championships on March 29th thru 31st. Spectators are welcome to gawk at the daredevil skiing feats being performed by these top athletes. Many participants are gearing up for the winter Olympics, so this is an exciting preview of what Sochi 2014 has in store.

5. Carriage ride through South Shore
Enjoy the beautiful Spring weather and witness Tahoe’s South Shore from the comfort of horse-drawn carriage ride. South Tahoe is home to a variety of historic areas, cute shops and lush scenery, and what better way to take in all these sights than from the perch of a carriage ride? This Tahoe activity is perfect for a romantic experience with that special someone, or as a relaxing activity for the whole family.

6. Golf
Tahoe is an ideal destination for any golf enthusiasts out there, as there are some of the finest golf courses in the country in the area. Your golf clubs may have been collecting dust this past winter, but Spring is a wonderful time to get back in the game, and the Tahoe golf courses offer plenty of opportunities to do just that.

7. Hiking
Lovers of the outdoors flock from all over for a chance to experience the gorgeous Tahoe weather and scenery, and have their pick of a number of mountain trails to explore on an adventurous hike. If the Spring weather permits it, beginners can go on a short stroll through Glacier Meadow Loop, and those game for a more rigorous hike can tackle the trails of Shirley Lake.
