Average hotel, better in the summer
First of all, I would have to say this is a better summer hotel than a winter hotel. It’s right by the water and you can rent equipment like jet skis, boats and even go parasailing right next to the hotel. So that’s great! But in the winter, it’s a little farther away from the gondola to go skiing at Heavenly, so you would need a car. Meanwhile, there’s a bunch of much cheaper and more convenient hotels in South Lake Tahoe if you want to go skiing. There are some great restaurants that you can walk to from here though.
But with that said, my first thought was that parking here is a pain. I hate valet parking and that’s your only option here because they don’t have a parking lot. It is free, but still, I don’t like other people driving my car and you do have to tip each time. So that’s a big negative.
The rooms are pretty decent and building looks nice from the outside. It’s definitely not one of those motel looking hotel that are so common in Lake Tahoe. They are condo style rooms. They’re a little dated but nice.
If you can get a good deal here, then I recommend staying here, especially in the summer. But if you’re going to pay top dollar, then there are other hotels that may be better to check out.
