Suggestions for Playing

Greens at Northstar-at-Tahoe - Click to Zoom

No. 1
Dogleg Right - It's over 300 yards to lake from tee with hazards on left of fairway. The lake is only ten yards from the green so keep your approach shot to right. The green is difficult to putt.

No. 2
Hit your tee shot between bunkers. The hole is slightly uphill with a creek in fairway 65 yards from green. This could be a birdie hole.

No. 3
The green is very shallow and well bunkered. club selection is critical. Don't be short. The wind can also be a factor. Nor sure par here.

No. 4
Dogleg Left - A tee shot to the left of the bunker leaves a straight shot to the large green. Check the pin placement on your approach shot to save putts.

No. 5
Dogleg Right - Hit your tee shot to left center of the sloping fairway. Approach to green is downhill so don't be long. The teeing area is over 100 yards long offering a view of Donner Summit.

No. 6
Long shots to well bunkered green. The hole plays long so use enough club to reach the green. This is the longest par 3 on course.

No. 7
Lake on left of fairway is 230 yards from tee. Takes three good shots to reach the green which is severely tiered. Pin placement is important to save putts. This is the longest hole on course, not many birdies on this par 5.

No. 8
Dogleg Left - Drive to right side of fairway to avoid bunker on right front of green. This is the tightest fairway on this nine.

No. 9
Hit tee shot to the right of fairway bunker. Don't get behind the tree on left front of green. Mounding on the fairway can make for a tough lie if you're in the center of the fairway.

No. 10
Dogleg Left - Hit tee shot to right center of the fairway. The green is long and narrow with bunker on left. It's the only hole on this nine with no water.

No. 11
Dogleg Left - Consider an iron for an accurate tee shot. The right bunker is 200 yards from tee. Club selection is critical for approach shot as the green is surrounded by trouble. Short hole but pars must be earned with accuracy.

No. 12
Dogleg Right - The percentage tee shot is with an iron short of the trees which are 170 yards from tee. Long hitters and gamblers can drive to right of trees for a short approach shot and possible birdie. If the pin is placed on right of green, drive to left of trees. This is the shortest par 4 on the course.

No. 13
Be sure to use enough club to clear the large deep bunker. The green has 2 levels so try to stay below the pin or there's a possibility of a 3 putt.

No. 14
Hit your drive to the left of bunker and lay up second shot. Long hitters can reach the green with two shots if very accurate for a possible birdie.

No. 15
The green is lower than the tee so it requires less club than it appears. For best results use a high lofted shot. From the championship tee this hole is an awesome sight.

No. 16
Keep your tee shot on left of fairway to open up the green for the second shot. The green is lower than the fairway so avoid being long on your approach shot. The wind can help the golfer on this hole.

No. 17
Percentage tee shot is hit to the right of the creek about 200 yards from the tee. Long hitters can drive over the bridge for short approach to long green. This is probably the most bogeyed hole on the course.

No. 18
Keep your ball on left side of fairway to avoid trouble. There is a creek approximately 60 yards in front of the long and flat green so play approach to the pin.

Rules :

  1. Please keep carts on paths.
  2. Repair ball marks on greens.
